"DOWN FOR LIFE" is the debut full-length release by Sam Salmon & the Grand Manan Bandits, a project featuring members of the renowned Canadian alt-rock band Motherhood alongside guitarist Keith Hallett. Recorded at Never Nuthin Studio in Fredericton (Canada), the album delivers an energetic blend of country, rockabilly, and alt-rock. The collective's style is characterized as "Maritime dirt country"—a raw, honest sound emphasizing guitar work and a straightforward rhythm section. Lyrically, the songs explore themes of self-deprecation, competition, and personal loss while maintaining a "three chords and the truth" atmosphere.
