Lemmy (born Ian Fraser Kilmister; 24 December 1945, Stoke-on-Trent – 28 December 2015, Los Angeles) was an English singer, bassist, songwriter, Grammy Award-winning performer, and a cult figure in rock music, best known as the founding frontman of the band Motörhead.
He and his band recorded and toured continuously from 1975 until his death. His greatest successes came in the early 1980s with the albums No Sleep ’til Hammersmith and Ace of Spades, which topped the charts in England. In 1990, he moved from England to Los Angeles and lived there for the rest of his life. In 2006, a double-disc anthology entitled Damage Case was released, showcasing Lemmy's 40-year career, from Rockin' Vickers to Hawkwind to Motörhead and various period projects
