This adventure began in 1992 at a Richard Galliano concert hosted by Philippe Baron (jazz programmer/radio host at RTBF). This first meeting with the brilliant accordionist and composer, who was also a close friend of Astor Piazzolla, was followed by a series of other concerts in Belgium, as well as the recording of the album Illusions Sensorielles (IGL101) on the Igloo label, where Richard Galliano participates in the recording of 3 tracks, and then the album Folies Douces (IGL115) on the same label.
In 2003, Jean-Paul Dessi (conductor of the ensemble Musique Nouvelle) invited him to repeat this experience, this time adding strings. Ivan Padoir, who wrote very few works for strings, decided to try his hand and ordered three arrangements from Michel Herr, a colleague and friend whom he had respected immensely for twenty years. "Sweet Illusions" ("Douces Illusions"), as the name implies, repeat this path, emphasizing the dreamy aspect of Ivan's compositions with the help of strings.
