Shipwreck Orchestra is the solo endeavor of Aaron Miller, who assumed the roles of composer, producer, sound engineer, and cover artist. The musician performed on a vast array of instruments, ranging from the hurdy-gurdy to the piano, creating a complex "cinematic" sound that fuses English folk, orchestral elements, and progressive rock. Despite the ambitious scope and rich arrangements, augmented by contributions from guest musicians (cello, harp, nyckelharpa), the album avoids excessive pomposity, maintaining sincerity and emotional depth.
