Afrodream - La Teranga (2019)

"La Teranga" is the debut full-length album by the Turin-based multicultural collective Afrodream, released following a successful crowdfunding campaign. The album's title, meaning "hospitality" in the Senegalese Wolof language, serves as the conceptual core of the release: it is a musical manifesto of openness, cultural encounter, and acceptance. The record's sound is an eclectic fusion of traditional West African rhythms, European pop, funk, and jazz. The lyrics are grounded in the texts of vocalist Abou Samb, who, continuing the griot tradition, sings of hope, migration, and human relationships, harmoniously intertwining melancholy with infectious dance energy.
