Dééfait - Dééfait (2025)

Formed in 2023 and based in Paris, the band Dééfait comprises musicians from France and Mexico. Their musical style blends krautrock, noise rock, psychedelia, and proto-punk, creating a ritualistic, trance-like atmosphere devoid of conventional melodies or choruses. Their debut self-titled EP, scheduled for release in December 2025 via the label Ici, d'ailleurs, consists of six extended compositions.

Vocalist Riki Lara delivers lyrics in English, Spanish, and French, exploring themes of ecstasy, sacrifice, alienation, and the transcendence of human nature. The recording is characterized by a raw, dirty, and visceral sound. Critics compare the band's aesthetic to The Birthday Party, CAN, and Boredoms, noting the high intensity and hallucinatory tension of their work.
