Michael Winograd - Michael Winograd Plays Tanz! Live in New York City (2025)

Leading contemporary clarinetist Michael Winograd has presented a reconstruction project of the legendary 1956 album TANZ!, originally created by Dave Tarras and Sam Musiker. The original recording, which became a benchmark for fusing traditional klezmer with jazz, had a pivotal influence on Winograd's career. The musician manually restored the scores for all compositions and, in 2023, five years after commencing the work, organized the first-ever live performance of this material. The concert recording, made with an all-star ensemble in Manhattan, revives the sound of one of the most significant records in the genre's history.
