Wayward Airs for Earthbound Vagrants is the debut full-length album by the experimental folk duo Magic Tuber Stringband from Durham, North Carolina. The group consists of Courtney Werner (fiddle) and Evan Morgan (guitar, banjo). The album is conceptually divided into two sonic realms: authentic performances of traditional Appalachian tunes (such as Cumberland Gap and Mole in the Ground) and free-form, droning improvisations that create a psychedelic atmosphere. Both the band's name and the album title reference "tubers" and roots, symbolizing a connection to the earth and nature, which is reflected in the recording's naturalistic, "raw" sound. The release was originally issued as a limited edition cassette by Blue Hole Recordings.
