Helena Marinho, António Carrilho & Catherine Strynckx - Despojos (2025) Hi-Res

In a world where waste and excessive consumption threaten the sustainability of people and the planet, how could we, through art, create a message that warns of this situation and constitutes itself as a metaphor and strategy for addressing the problem? The "Despojos" project proposes the exploration of the theme of sustainability and renewal through composition and performance based on musical content or unfinished, discarded, or reused objects. For this project, the Borealis Ensemble is composed of António Carrilho (recorder), Catherine Strynckx (cello), and Helena Marinho (piano), who invited composers Ângela da Ponte, Francisco Ribeiro, Jaime Reis, Jônatas Manzolli, Olívia Silva, and Sara Carvalho to create works for a series of 6 concerts in Portugal and Spain.
