Oiro Pena - Oiro Pena (2020) [Hi-Res]

Finnish musician Antti Vauhkonen (Oiro Pena) has released an ultra-limited spiritual jazz album, consisting of only 20 copies. The release, acclaimed by critics as "raw and essential outsider jazz," is accompanied by an essay by Markus Karlqvist. The liner notes draw a historical parallel between early humans creating bone flutes in solitude and Vauhkonen's modern working method. Through recording technology, the artist independently performs all instrument parts (ranging from flutes to percussion), achieving a rich "cosmic" sound reminiscent of the early Sun Ra Arkestra, without the need for additional musicians.
