Guitarist and lyricist, was born on June 11, 1947 in Bournemouth, England.
In the 1970s, he wrote lyrics for King Crimson on the albums "Larks' Tongues In Aspic" (1973), "Starless And Bible Black" (1974) and "Red" (1974).
Before becoming the author of King Crimson, he played in various Bournemouth bands: The Corvettes, The Palmer-James Group (formed with Alec James), Tedrad and Ginger Man. John Wetton played bass guitar and vocals in all these bands. He co-founded the band Supertramp in 1969; he performed and wrote lyrics for their self-titled debut album under the name Richard Palmer, and also co-wrote the lyrics of the song Goldrush, which existed from the early days of his participation in the band and was finally recorded in 2002 for the album Slow Motion.
