Persia - The Complete Collection (1988-1995) [2024]

Hailing from NJ and its surrounding areas, PERSIA were put together by Michael Reid, Rick McCoy, Anthony Picone and Bill Boyer in 1986. With the Hard Rock scene arguably at its zenith as bands like Bon Jovi, Europe, Def Leppard and Van Halen were capturing the zeitgeist of the era, this small-town band strode out like they were arena-headliners in the making.

Through a series of demo tapes and official CDs, PERSIA went from the rudimentary sounds that were captured on their 1988 ‘Ready To Rock’ demo (think Dokken meets Laaz Rockit) to the polished and overtly commercial sounds that were captured on their ‘Back On Top’ (1993) and ‘No Compromise’ (1995) CD releases.
They may not have had a magic carpet, but they flew in the face of musical trends anyway, releasing three classic hard rock EPs in the Grunge-infested Nineties, with a belief that it was their way or no way.
It served them well as they toured the East Coast of America, supporting the likes of Winger, Warrant and Skid Row along the way.
