Idaho - The Forbidden EP - Alas: Special Edition (2008)

This edition constitutes a compilation of two late-1990s releases by the band Idaho: The Forbidden EP and the album Alas. Following a reduction in lineup to the duo of Jeff Martin and Dan Seta, the group recorded 15 melancholic compositions characterized by an atmospheric guitar sound and Martin's distinct baritone vocals. Guest musicians, including Joey Waronker and Melissa Auf Der Maur, contributed to the recording. Stylistically, the material is akin to the work of Red House Painters and American Music Club, blending the somberness of slowcore with textural beauty. While the main content is of high artistic quality, the included bonus disc of outtakes is deemed negligible.
