Camellia rose as unexpected and unique star of the jazz scene in Bulgaria in the mid 70's.
Her family was her school - her father connoisseur and buff of jazz and her mother former classical singer. The enormous home discotheque contained only classical and jazz music.
Camellia hereditary belongs to the artistic intelligentsia where the ideological taboos of the totalitarian system meant next to nothing.
From the very begging she was either lucky or smart to work only with the best. To mention a few: saxophone player Ludmil Georgiev, the pioneer of the Bulgarian jazz and Jazz - Focus'63, formed by the pianist Milcho Leviev, who at that time had already immigrated to the USA and was performing with Don Ellis. Jazz - Focus'63 was the first Bulgarian jazz formation to be recognised beyond the Iron Curtain, participated with very good press at the Festival in Montreux. Her closest collaboration was with the new pianist Mario Stanchev, who works successfully in France since 1980.....
