2015 DEBUT ALBUM FROM THE PINEAPPLE THIEF FRONTMAN, MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST & SONGWRITER EXTRAORDINAIRE.
Founding member & chief songwriter of his prolific band The Pineapple Thief, Bruce Soord's output & profile has grown substantially over the last decade. In addition to his own musical output, his exceptional producing & in demand surround sound mixing has seen him delivering mastering work for acts including TesseracT, Opeth & Jethro Tull.
Having wanted to make a solo album for many years, Soord found himself taking surprising paths to create his debut in 2015; here he explored the softer, dreamier side of his song-writing - more acoustic in nature, whilst retaining depth in its arrangement.
Featuring the singles 'Familiar Patterns' & 'Willow Tree', the self-titled album was recorded during the summer of 2015 at Bruce Soord's UK studio with all tracks written & performed by Soord with Darren Charles (Godsticks) playing additional guitar.
Revisiting his entire life to find inspiration for the songs. A lifetime growing up in a small town, a once thriving sprawl of friends, lovers & music; much of that now decayed - the venues are closed & the old hunting grounds unrecognisable - this record is a celebration of the past as much as it is an epitaph of times past. While the songs describe a sense of the past that has been lost, it is also a celebration of a wonderful & artistically decaying town.
Bruce Soord's The Pineapple Thief return in Feb 2024 with a new studio album 'It Leads To This' & accompanying European tour.
