Henriette Eilertsen - Poems for Flute (2021)

Henriette Eilertsen, the first graduate of the Norwegian Academy of Music with a degree in jazz flute, presents her debut album, "Poems for Flute" (2021). Unlike many jazz musicians who treat the flute as a secondary instrument, Eilertsen is dedicated to exploring its full potential. The album consists of a cycle of short musical "poems" rooted in free improvisation.

The work encompasses a wide range of sonic landscapes, from solo performances and duets with acoustic violin to experiments with real-time computer processing. Special emphasis is placed on the acoustic properties of unique recording locations, such as the Vigeland Mausoleum with its extreme reverberation, and the technical nuances of the instrument itself, including key noise and microtonality. Eilertsen successfully demonstrates a modern vision for the jazz flute, combining technical brilliance with an innovative approach to sound production.
