This CD recording is an experiment. I have been researching the performance practice of the flute in the early 19th century for about 15 years, and a few years ago the late 19th century also came into focus. The more I read about this period, the more I realized how different our performance practice is today from that of the past. It's not just the period instruments that make the difference, but also the playing style of the time, which is rarely heard today.

Inspired by the sources, I look for new ways of interpretation, new modes of expression, without wanting to copy a particular style of playing from that time. To go on this search as a soloist together with L'arpa festante and Korneel Bernolet was a great fortune and a great satisfaction for me. I was able to realize my musical ideas and explore boundaries in a symphonic setting. The result was a snapshot. Tomorrow it might sound completely different again. (Anna Pustlauk)
