The Trans Kabar project, led by Stéphane Hoareau, reinterprets the traditional music of Réunion Island by transforming the ritual chants of Servis Kabaré into an expressive "trans-maloya" sound. The ensemble’s music blends the raw energy of noise rock, the precision of math rock, and the spontaneity of free jazz while preserving the mystical and spiritual essence of authentic ancestral rites. Through improvisation and the use of traditional instruments like the kayamb, the group produces a powerful, "volcanic" sonic wall that bridges ancient communal ceremonies with the modern avant-garde scene.
