Valeria Stewart - Raíces (2025)

Playing acoustic guitar, Valeria Stewart sings with Latin sensuality with her team of Kevin Dudley/g, Eugenio Ibarz/b, Jason Walker/cong-bong, Juan Megna/perc and Grey Jacks/voc on this collection of mostly originals. She sings in Spanish with soft seduction around the lovely lilt of “El Dia Mas Oscuro” and forms a cheerful dance around “Ensuenos”. A dash of the blues is painted on “Por Que” while the strings form droplets of dew around “Eres Me Amomr”. Jacks adds earthy harmonies here and there, forming a rich texture to “No Eres Tu”. Cozy and fun, Stewart wins you over by unpretentious tenderness, as on “Zamba de Usted” and serenading your soul on “Veinte Anos”. Dressed well in earth tones.~By George W. Harris
