Blondie - Greatest Hits: Deluxe Redux / Ghosts Of Download (2014)

A world without Blondie? Hard to imagine. For over four decades, the influence of the New York City band has been far-reaching and lasting, impacting music, fashion, and art. This is also because the protagonists, Debbie Harry and Chris Stein, always kept their finger on the pulse of the music scene and set trends instead of simply following them.

That's why Blondie are celebrating their 40th anniversary with a rather unusual gift. The double CD "Blondie 4(0) E ver" does look back, with "Deluxe Redux: Greatest Hits."

However, the band has completely re-recorded eleven of their biggest songs, which also leads to some surprises within the familiar. In addition, Blondie present 12 new tracks under the evocative title "Ghosts Of Download," plus a brilliant cover version of the Frankie Goes To Hollywood hit "Relax," which will also be part of their live repertoire when the band embarks on their upcoming world tour. Ghosts Of Download, Blondie's tenth studio album, was tackled by the band almost immediately after "Panic Of Girls" (2011). "A Rose By Any Name," the first single, creates the ideal playing field with its cool electro pulse for the duet between Debbie Harry and Gossip's Beth Ditto, who find each other in the exuberant "love-whoever-you-want" chorus.
