Produced by Dodicilune, distributed in Italy and abroad by IRD and in major online stores by BELIEVE DIGITAL, Wednesday, 18 February 2026 sees the release of “Ima Adesso”, the new CD by Apulian double bass player and composer Giuseppe Bassi, an artist considered one of the most influential and committed figures on the international scene.
As the title suggests, the project takes stock of the human and artistic experiences and encounters of his life and career. The title is inspired by the Japanese root 今 (ima), an ancient character dating back to the bronze inscriptions of the Zhou dynasty, which in Japanese thought is not only “now” in a chronological sense, but also a point of balance between past and future, a moment full of potential that evokes presence and awareness of the moment. Accompanying him on this extraordinary musical and inner journey are some of the leading names on the international jazz scene, such as Argentine saxophonist Javier Girotto, Swedish pianist Daniel Karlsson and drummer Lorenzo Tucci.
