Finnish jazz veterans Juhani Aaltonen and Raoul Björkenheim have released their latest collaborative album, "Nostalgia," following their 2018 record "Awakening." The duo’s creative process centers on spontaneous composition and intuitive interplay, blending Aaltonen’s lyrical flute performances with Björkenheim’s complex double-neck guitar arrangements. Both musicians share a foundational history with the legendary Edward Vesala, significantly influencing the Finnish avant-garde landscape. Björkenheim, an internationally acclaimed guitarist with deep ties to the New York and Finnish jazz scenes, continues to demonstrate his versatility through extensive collaborations with world-class improvisers and leading experimental ensembles.
