Lyn Stanley - Tribute to 1924 (2025)

Vocalist Lyn Stanley goes back 100 years or so, and reinterprets some of the foundational tunes of the Jazz Age and brings a modern mood. It works surprisingly well, giving credit to both composers and vocalist.

She mixes and matches with John Chiodin/g, Chuck Berghofer/b, Luis Conte/perc, Mike Garson/p, Aaron Serfaty/dr, Ricky Woodard/ts and Hendrick Meurkens/harm, with Stanley’s warm and nuanced voice creating understated and mellow moods for most of the time. Stanely gives a classy waltz feel around Berghofer on “You Made Me Love You” and is delicate with Chodini and a Debussy-esque Garson on “The Man I Love” She gives a sly feel with a dash of a growl with Woodard on “Heard Hearted Hanna” and blows smoke rings with him on “Somebody Loves Me”.
