The new album "Vila" by Brazilian guitarist Fabiano do Nascimento, recorded in collaboration with a sixteen-piece orchestra led by Vittor Santos, draws inspiration from the secluded Rio de Janeiro neighborhood of his youth. This ambitious work features a sophisticated dialogue between Nascimento’s central acoustic guitar and Santos’s expansive orchestral arrangements, blending grandeur with nostalgia. The project reflects Nascimento’s unique position at the intersection of traditional Brazilian instrumental music and the jazz and experimental scenes of Los Angeles. With Santos’s extensive background in arranging for Brazilian legends, the album achieves a complex, eclectic, and harmonious sound.
