In 1972 Steve Lawrence, Steve Acker, and Mickey Williamson entered Peppermint Productions in Youngstown Ohio to record six songs that they had been perfecting live. Using their initials to form the band’s name, they called themselves LAW. They were tight, powerful and wildly talented. This lineup didn’t last long. Williamson left the group and was replaced by Ronnie Lee Cunningham and John McIver. Their style shifted too; moving away from the power-trio/boogie thing and more pop, releasing three LPs (and as many lineup changes) between ’75 - ’77. Like so many others, they were just a hit away from longterm success. Despite the support of Roger Daltrey’s Goldhawke Productions the band called it quits. Consider this not only the prologue to the LAW story but also to Ronnie Lee Cunningham’s career.
