Vittorio Auteri - Artificial Dreams (2026)

Artificial Dreams is a sound research focused on the never-ending recording of an auditory dream diary.

I assembled it with cut-ups and manipulations of field recordings and discarded takes, trying to capture the liminal threshold that divide the dreaming state from the waking one, in all its fragmentation and uncanniness: constant changes of scenery, environments that merge in each other or that don't sound as they should, that feeling that something is off and yet so familiar.

Assembled with cut-ups and manipulations of field recordings and found sounds, the diary is made of narrations that recreate the liminal threshold dividing the dreaming state from the waking one, with all its fragmentation and uncanniness. Constant changes of scenery, environments merging into each other and auditive events sounding "incoherent" are at the base of the work, whose purpose is also to challenge listeners to draw from their own memories to envision the stories told within the recordings.
The first one consists of 6 dreams and 1 nightmare.
