Texas country-rock star Koe Wetzel has been celebrated in truly personal fashion after his hometown of Pittsburg, Texas officially declared February 28 as Koe Wetzel Day. Less than a year after joking in a Billboard cover story that he might one day earn a hometown mural alongside Pittsburg’s notable figures, the singer returned home to discover the city had turned that idea into reality. In a surprise ceremony attended by family, friends and local officials, Wetzel was presented with a key to the city and honoured with an official proclamation recognising his impact and success.

Marking another milestone tied to February 28, the artist also surprised fans by releasing a new project following his Riot Room performance in Fort Worth. ‘These Are Going Nowhere: A Mixtape' by Koe Wetzel serves as both a thank-you to fans and a celebration of a decade since a pivotal early moment in his career. The mixtape gathers fan-favourite unreleased material including Feel Better, GTFO, Run Away, College, Lonesome Dove and Sweet Texas Strange, offering listeners a taste of what’s to come ahead of his next studio album, expected later this summer.
