Capitol Symphonie Orchester, Maximilian Junghans, Douglas Bostock - Offenbacher Sinfonie (Musik von Johann Anton André, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart und Giovanni Battista Viotti) (2026) [Hi-Res]

A publisher and composer with a sense of authenticity: Johann Anton André acquired over 270 manuscripts of Mozart's music from his widow Constanze - including the Don Giovanni, whose overture on this CD serves as a prelude to another work from the collection: Mozart's addition to the orchestration of the now underrated Violin Concerto No. 16 by the brilliant violin virtuoso Giovanni Battista Viotti, which is regarded as the definitive breakthrough among his concert works
The main work on this album is the great E flat major Symphony op. 25 by Johann Anton André himself, extraordinarily imaginative and with a very independent orchestral treatment in the period setting of Beethoven's Eroica.
