Martin Bonventre sings like he’s made for the cabaret circuit, reworking standards with Greg Ruvolo/tp-fh, Geoff Burke/sax-fl, Jason Yeager/p, Boots Maleson/b and Tony Tedesco/dr. His voice is classical sounding and strong, and gives a Gershwin feel around Yeager on “Oh! Look At Me Now”. Burke’s flute adds to the aria of “Sometimes A Day Goes By” and the upscale “She’s Out OF My Life”, while Jackie Presti’s charts give a darker hue to “Somethings’ Gotta Give” and “You Must Believe In Spring”.
