extremely popular and widely performed in his time. To mark the 300th anniversary of his birth, Carus Publishing House is releasing several CDs
with works by this "best church composer" (I. F. Reichardt) of his era. The Handel Ensemble with choir conducted by Rainer Johannes Homburg
presents five cantatas for Advent, New Year and Epiphany.
Homilius wrote a significant number of cantatas for Sundays and public holidays. Considering that 180 works have been preserved, Carus had to select them
and the label decided to present them in the order of the church year. There are five cantatas in the collection, each of which is of great interest.
