Peter Gall - Drum Seeds (2026) [Hi-Res]

German drummer and producer Peter Gall, whose previous work Love Avatar won the 2025 German Jazz Award for Album of the Year, releases his solo record DRUM SEEDS. Originally conceived by Compost label head Michael Reinboth as a pure drum recording, the project evolved over two years of self-produced studio sessions as Gall incorporated vintage analog synthesizers. This shift transformed the concept from a rhythmic exercise into a layered, multi-instrumental narrative where Gall played every instrument himself.

Stylistically, DRUM SEEDS expands beyond classic jazz, bridging krautrock, ambient, breakbeat, drum & bass, trip-hop, and Afro groove. The album's sonic texture draws parallels to Aphex Twin, Caribou, Boards of Canada, The Streets, David Lynch film scores, as well as 1960s–1970s jazz and jungle rhythms. Heavily influenced by drum icons Tony Williams and Jack DeJohnette along with J Dilla-style beats, the record keeps expressive drumming at its core, complemented by cover artwork from Munich artist Ena Oppenheimer.
