GAF & The Love Supreme Arkestra - Retiro Espiritual (2026) [Hi-Res]

Tenerife-based octet Gaf & The Love Supreme Arkestra release Retiro Espiritual, their fourth full-length album and the second chapter of an ongoing improvisational project born inside an abandoned oil tank in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The group works deliberately outside conventional studio norms: their music grows out of extended, sometimes multi-day sessions of free improvisation built on drums, guitar, bass, modular synthesis and samplers, expanded with vibraphone, flutes, saxophone and the traditional Canarian Herreño whistle.
Where the band's previous record drew on the misty northern coast of Isla Baja, this new album turns toward Taganana, one of Tenerife's most remote and isolated corners, where volcanic terrain and exposure to the Atlantic set a slower, more deliberate pace. The title itself — "spiritual retreat" — signals this shift in focus: time seems to pause here, making room for collective creation and inward stillness.
The album's sound is noticeably warmer and more meditative than its predecessor: flutes drift over unhurried grooves, jams unfold without urgency, and traces of 1970s spiritual jazz surface throughout the record's texture. Yet the group's experimental foundation remains intact — the emphasis simply shifts toward repetition, space and a sunlit, tranquil atmosphere, staying true to an ongoing commitment to ritual, territory and long-form collective improvisation at the edge of the Atlantic.
