Dead On The Heavy Funk: 1975–1983 is a two-disc retrospective compilation released in 1998 by Polydor (as part of the Chronicles series). It covers the period of James Brown's career when classic funk was replaced by disco influences, and the artist proclaimed himself the "Minister of the New New Super Heavy Funk."
It includes 12-inch mixes, single versions, and previously unreleased recordings.
The collection aimed to rehabilitate the late '70s and early '80s period in Brown's career, which critics often labeled a "decline."
