The Eyes Close, the Words Open by Ümlaut is a two-part album in which meaning arises through duration rather than statement. Inspired by Octavio Paz, the music inhabits a space between presence and disappearance: field recordings, minimal gestures, and restrained electronics are shaped as much by silence as by sound. The composer's background in design and photography lends the work a spatial, near-visual quality.
