Trio Asesino is a studio album by Grammy-winning, Oscar-nominated multi-instrumentalist Adrian Quesada, released 27 March 2026 on ATO Records. The record takes its name from the live trio format Quesada has toured with extensively since 2025, bringing high-energy instrumental sets to venues and festivals including Jazz Cafe London, Montreal International Jazz Festival, Rock Werchter, and Telluride Jazz. Co-founder of Black Pumas and a prolific solo artist with a catalogue spanning psychedelic soul, cinematic hip-hop beats (Jaguar Sound, 2022), and orchestral Latin psych (Boleros Psicodélicos I & II), Quesada has also collaborated with Prince, Los Lobos, Wu-Tang's GZA, and Hermanos Gutiérrez, and earned an Academy Award nomination for his song "Like A Bird" from A24's Sing Sing.
Trio Asesino is an instrumental album — a compact, groove-driven set in the spirit of Jaguar Sound but shaped by the live chemistry of trio performance. The sole guest is trumpeter Keyon Harrold on "MF AF," lending a jazz-forward dimension to the record. Track titles like "Infinito," "Asleep in the Desert," "The Divided City," and "Contra El Sol / Hasta La Luna" suggest the same cinematic, wide-screen storytelling that has defined Quesada's instrumental work, rooted equally in hip-hop production aesthetics and the Western film scores of Ennio Morricone.
