A delivery of soulful R&B that is both old and new school is delivered on this fresh release by vocalist Becca Hannah. Best known for his work with Tedeschi Trucks, the Jim Scott production is filled with earth toned warmth, backed by a 9 member band which includes Pappa D/p, Tristan Jantz/g and horns arranged by George Pereli. The 70s-mooded guitar sways with Hannah on “Empathy” while she oozes like molasses off of the spoon on the cozy “Caramel”. Her teaming with Jantz is a cooing one on “Intro (presence)”, while she’s tender around the keyboard support on “Miriam”.
