Dennis Siggery & Trevor Short – Songs from the Basement (2023)

The album Songs from the Basement is noticeably different from the classic blues-rock that Dennis Siggery made his name with the Eric Street Band. Here, the musicians allowed themselves more experimentation. It's an eclectic mix of soft rock, pop, reggae, and light jazz inflections. The songs are built around narratives, with Dennis's vocals sounding softer and more intimate. Unlike the guitar-driven blues recordings, atmospheric keyboards and expressive saxophone parts play a key role here.

Despite the 2023 remastering, the album retains the characteristic "tube-like" and slightly raw aesthetic of the studio demos from the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Critics often describe this release as a "melodic journey" that reveals Siggery not only as a bluesman but also as a versatile songwriter.
