Assassin's Creed: The Piano Collection marks a landmark moment at the intersection of classical performance and video game heritage. The album was created in collaboration with the harmonia mundi label and the Philharmonie de Paris, bringing together some of the most beloved themes from across the Assassin's Creed franchise in solo piano transcriptions. The performer, French pianist Nicolas Horvath, has long been celebrated for his willingness to traverse stylistic boundaries — from Erik Satie and Philip Glass to animated film scores and now to one of gaming's most iconic soundscapes.
The recordings were made on a historically significant instrument: a Steinway & Sons Model A grand piano (Hamburg, 1928), formerly owned by the legendary pedagogue and conductor Nadia Boulanger, now preserved in the collection of the Musée de la musique in Paris. On this instrument, Horvath interprets themes spanning two decades of the franchise — from Jesper Kyd's seminal "Ezio's Family" and the suites from Assassin's Creed II, Brotherhood and Revelations, through the seafaring themes of Black Flag (Brian Tyler), the revolutionary Paris of Unity (Chris Tilton), and on to the Norse grandeur of Valhalla (Sarah Schachner, Jesper Kyd) and the feudal Japan of Shadows (The Flight, Mike Georgiades).
The project is a joint undertaking by Ubisoft Music, harmonia mundi, and the Philharmonie de Paris. Piano arrangements were crafted by multiple collaborators; notably, the Assassin's Creed III centrepiece "America (The Story of Connor Kenway)" was adapted by arranger Julie Lamontagne from Lorne Balfe's original score. The digital release arrived on April 3, 2026; vinyl editions in 1LP and 2LP formats are scheduled for May 2026.
