What would Frédéric Chopin's never-completed third piano concerto sound like? Perhaps the way pianist Martin Stadtfeld imagines it together with conductor and arranger Timo Jouko Herrmann. Originally conceived as a large-scale concerto, the Allegro de concert op. 46 appears on the album Chopin: Return to Warsaw in an orchestral version that recreates Chopin's tonal language with the greatest stylistic sensitivity. As a perfect counterpart, Chopin's rarely played Bolero op. 19 can be heard in an orchestration that is as gentle as it is colorful. Together they form the reconstructed Concerto in A major, played by Martin Stadtfeld and accompanied by the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra under T. J. Herrmann. The program is complemented by well-known nocturnes, waltzes, the Berceuse and Stadtfeld's own arrangements of Chopin's pieces.
