The ensemble Nolatet presents their third album, Somethin’ To Relax With, recorded live in Tulsa in 2025. The group reunites the legendary New Orleans rhythm section of James Singleton and Johnny Vidacovich with experimentalists Mike Dillon and Brian Haas. The record consists of original material founded on the concept of "rough sketches," where collective improvisation takes precedence over rigid charts. The live recording in a small club allowed the quartet to achieve high kinetic energy and a risk-taking sound. The band's music blends New Orleans jazz traditions with elements of punk-rock and avant-garde, highlighting the fierce individuality of each member and their decades of collaborative experience.
