(2 CD) / El Cielo 2020, a group of specialists in Piazzolla’s music, presents their second film music album, Cinema Nostalgia II -Fatum-. While their previous album, Aspiration, explored international cinema, this album delves deeper into the memories of Japanese films. They have finally received official permission from the film’s management to record the famous piece Fatum from the film Suna no Utsuwa, a piece that had never been officially arranged before. A new version has been recorded, transcending 50 years. The original piano and orchestral piece has been rearranged for piano, strings, and flute, depicting the torrent of sorrow and the intensity residing in the human heart with a modern sound. The album also includes 16 tracks across two discs, including Ryuichi Sakamoto’s Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, Toru Takemitsu’s The Face of Another and Small Sky, and Takashi Yoshimatsu’s Villon’s Wife. El Cielo 2020’s signature tension and passionate performances bring these masterpieces back to life with new life and drama. // Recorded on May 9th & 10th, 2025 at Tamamura Town Cultural Center.
