Bobby Wiens - Focus (2026)

I’m thrilled to present my second album as a leader! I wanted this work to be a reflection of where I’m currently at, both musically and in life: the joys and challenges of being a new parent, the ever-evolving way I experience the world around me, a harkening back to some of my very early musical inspirations, and an overall sound conception that continually reveals aspects of itself to me the longer I learn about, practice, listen to, and discover this music.
I also wanted this release to feature (with one exception) all originals of mine for the first time.

About the musicians:
I actually had these guys in mind before I started writing most of these tunes; so the majority of my compositional process for this record involved me imagining them, specifically, playing this music. All three of them are grounded in the tradition, history, and language of Black American Music, while also being very open to explore and add their individuality and creativity to the compositions.
