Tomas Janzon - Jazz Diary (2026)

...the music evolving from my jazz diary where music ideas from early morning or later practice sessions and coffee breaks gets scribbled down. These short one or two bar ideas, made as generating vehicles for improvisation, are sometimes getting into the territory of melodic statements. That’s when I pick them out and start working, expanding and composing. That’s when the real work starts. This journal of ideas keeps evolving day by day (always on the same 4 sided sheets with a 2B pencil) making sure I have it with me on all my travels. Actually many of these notes are scribbled down between 3 and 4 AM when I have to get up and do something.
