Bruno Heinen's The W - Mikrokosmos (2026) Hi Res

London-based German pianist and composer Bruno Heinen draws on 20th-century classical compositions as well as the jazz tradition in his work. Heinen's music has been described by The Guardian as eclectic, eccentric, and understatedly erudite. This album is inspired by Béla Bartók's Mikrokosmos, using elements and ideas from Volume 6 of Bartók's work, along with lyrics in the form of Bartók quotations, to create a new suite. Bruno Heinen's quartet, The W, is a newly formed contemporary jazz combo featuring the charismatic British jazz singer Heidi Vogel. On drums is New Yorker Gene Calderazzo, a leading figure on the international jazz scene. On double bass is Italian Andrea Di Biase, who has performed with such luminaries as Norma Winstone and Kenny Wheeler.
