Twit One - The Twit 1, II, Three (2026) [Hi-Res]

Cologne producer Twit One — a DJ, radio host and co-manager of the Groove Attack record store who has shaped the local beat and hip-hop scene for more than 15 years — has formed his first band, The Twit 1, II, Three. For him, hip-hop is less a genre than a cultural practice and attitude rooted in African-American music history. The lineup includes classically trained vibraphonist Maxime von Koblinski and drummer Niklas Schneider of the Cologne kraut-pop band Keshavara; Twit One serves as musical director, supplies samples and concepts, and occasionally plays bass.

In 2024 the group self-released a C20 cassette limited to 100 copies and played festivals and venues in Cologne, Essen, Düsseldorf, Berlin and Amsterdam, including Week-End Festival, Soundball Festival and the Philharmonie. They then spent a year and a half recording their debut at Satori Studio in Cologne-Müngersdorf. The self-titled album arrives on Melting Pot Music in October 2026, built on hip-hop, krautrock, tropicalia, spiritual jazz and ambient. Plainly put, it is “Twit One fully produced with real instruments”; poetically, it is Sun Ra and J Dilla on their way to Jupiter with a stopover in Montreux. Eight of the ten tracks are instrumental; guest vocals come from two longtime friends who also release on MPM, Reginald Omas Mamode IV and Turt (Summers Sons). The artwork is by Jeremias Diekmann and Robert Winter.
