The Wind Orchestra Selection Live series presents a selection of outstanding performances of original wind orchestra works from the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra (TKWO)'s regular concerts. This album features Japanese compositions published since 2015, offering a glimpse into the current state of Japanese wind orchestra music. In particular, the new Symphony No. 3, written by wind orchestra veteran Hiroshi Hoshina at the age of 84, was a commissioned work to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the TKWO's founding. Under the precise baton of Takeshi Oi, the TKWO achieved overwhelming success with their empathetic lyricism and tight ensemble, and this monumental world premiere is presented here.
