Summer Surf is the fifth studio album by surf guitar king Dick Dale and his band The Del-Tones, released in July 1964 by Capitol Records.
This was Dale's last recording with The Del-Tones before a lengthy career hiatus caused by a battle with colon cancer. He did not record another studio album until 1986.
Unlike his previous purely surf recordings, the album includes experiments with other genres. For example, the song "Glory Wave" is written in a gospel/spiritual style, and Dale plays trumpet on a cover version of "Never on Sunday."
The recording featured renowned members of the Wrecking Crew, including drummer Hal Blaine and pianist Leon Russell.
The album's primary genre is surf rock, but this release is noticeably broader in sound than typical recordings of the time.
