Pianists Alcyona Mick and Liam Noble have presented an experimental interpretation of Gustav Holst’s "The Planets" titled "Distant Plains." Diverging from traditional adaptations, this project—initiated by Penny Rimbaud—relies on free improvisation without direct quotation of original themes or motifs. Recorded largely in first takes, the album captures the intuitive interplay of the duo, transforming classical planetary imagery into modern abstract sonic forms. While maintaining the emotional depth of the original, the artists reimagine the character of each movement, ranging from the aggression of "Mars" to the mystical silence of "Neptune."
