Gold Connections - Arena Rock for the Underground (Underground) (2026) [Hi-Res]

Underground is a five-track EP by Gold Connections, released on May 8, 2026 via the New Orleans independent label Well Kept Secret. It marks the band's first studio output since their debut full-length Fortune (October 2024) and the subsequent live EP Live From World Cafe (June 2025), recorded for NPR.
Gold Connections is the project of Virginia-born Will Marsh, who founded the band during his years at the College of William & Mary — where he crossed paths with Will Toledo of Car Seat Headrest. After relocating to New Orleans to pursue an MFA and work with Habitat for Humanity, Marsh rebuilt the group around his cousin, guitarist Fraser Wright. Together they forged a sound that blends the gritty indie rock of old Virginia with the psychedelic energy of post-COVID New Orleans.
The EP draws on material spanning several years of the band's history: the track "Iowa City" dates back to a home recording made in Charlottesville in April 2020, described by Marsh as a highway song exploring the liminal tension between hope and dread — one where the American landscape becomes the stage for an unresolved emotional standoff. The title Underground speaks directly to the band's long-held ethos: the music of Gold Connections has always positioned itself as timeless, trend-averse guitar rock — catchy, uncompromising, and fiercely independent.
