"4 Dreams" is a collaboration between Los Angeles-based vocalist and R&B outsider Zsela, producer Daniel Aged (known for work with Frank Ocean and Kelela), and film composer Taul Katz. The project was originally commissioned as a soundtrack for the contemporary art exhibition "Seven Heavenly Senses" at Hôtel de la Marine in Paris (2025), and has since emerged as a standalone release.Title: 4 Dreams

The album unfolds across four pieces, each composed of enveloping harmonies of cinematic strings, FM synthesizer textures, humid bass drones, and Zsela's breath-inflected vocals. Unlike her electric R&B-inflected debut album "Big For You" (2024), "4 Dreams" is entirely dedicated to ambient and instrumental composition—yet the jazz-influenced harmonic shifts and R&B phrasing of her voice remain her signature.
This represents a continuation of the musical dialogue Zsela began through collaborations with UK-based artist Actress on the tracks "Angel's Pharmacy" and "Remembrance" (from the album "Karma & Desire" on Ninja Tune, 2020). The album shares its atmospheric neo-classical sensibility with contemporary ambient works by Nala Sinephro, Malibu, and Mary Lattimore, while also engaging with the legacy of spiritual jazz pioneers such as Alice Coltrane and Dorothy Ashby.
The cover features a detail from a painting by American visual artist Naudline Pierre, whose practice centers on appropriating art historical iconography to construct her own mythology and dreamlike narratives. Mastering was handled by the legendary engineer Rashad Becker.
At its heart, "4 Dreams" is a work deeply rooted in jazz, soul, and classical minimalism, consciously avoiding the functional and detached quality that characterizes much contemporary ambient music. Each track functions as a meditative threshold between sleep and wakefulness.
